WordPress is an online, open source website creation tool written in PHP. But in non-geek speak, it's probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management system (or CMS) in existence today. Wordpress of Birmingham gathers together all WordPress users, developers, and fans to learn from each other the tools they need to help them get more out of WordPress. As a volunteer for WordPress of Birmingham, Alabama, I collaborated with designer, Joshua Gilmer, to create a logo for "WordCamp" that is held annually.
Symbolic use of the words, "Off the Hook" come together to complete the logo while illustrating its purpose. Symbolizing a modern and popular choice, the colors compliment the logo effortlessly.
Simple shape most elephants are recognized for: their ears is the focus of this logo. The colors represent Indian culture contrasting, yet complimentary of each other.
The logo symbolizes the entertainment district in a more abstract way that can be mirrored with the colored spotlights of the stage. The three spotlights reference the three theaters it is comprised of. By utilizing abstracted spotlights and stars, the logo announces its presence back onto the entertainment grid. The abstract symbols of spotlights and stars with bold and complimentary colors gives the log a way to showcase the 4th Avenue area in downtown Birmingham. The wordmark surrounds the logo, framing its planned placement.
